Joanne Nash Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology in the Department of Biological Sciences, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto, and a graduate appointment in the Department of Cells and Systems Biology. She completed her undergraduate degree in Pharmacology at the University of Aberdeen, UK, then her Masters of Research and Ph.D. at the University of Manchester, UK under the mentorship of Jonathan Brotchie where she focused on understanding the role of glutamate and GABA receptor transmission in symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. As a postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Nash was awarded a Wellcome fellowship, to train in the laboratories of Graham Collingridge and Craig Garner and understand how synaptic proteins regulate neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity, then a Michael J. Fox Foundation fellowship to train in the laboratory of Andres Lozano to understand the cellular mechanisms underlying the pathology of Parkinson’s disease.
